PREOPERATIVE INFORMATION

All scheduled surgery patients must be dropped off between 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM.  All patients must withhold food or water after 10:00 PM the night before surgery.

If your pet is on a special diet and currently taking medication please bring along the medication /food and leave it with the technician at the time of admittance.

The surgery schedule is often not predictable due to unforeseen emergencies and we ask that you leave all phone numbers where you may reached the day of surgery.  The clients will be called with an update after surgery has been completed.  If for some reason you have not heard from the surgeon by 5:00 PM please call the office at (610) 435-1553 for an update.

DAILY UPDATES

If your pet has been hospitalized, we know you are anxious to receive an update as soon as possible.  The technicians are able to give the most complete information after the doctors have done rounds and lab work has been completed. Rounds are between 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM, therefore we ask clients to call after 10:00 AM. After business hour updates may be given by the emergency staff at (610) 435 - 5588.

TELEPHONE CALLS

Monday- Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

The doctors each receive numerous calls per day and try to return as many calls as possible between appointments, procedures, and emergencies.  Many of the calls are returned after VCVRC closes, therefore please leave a daytime and evening phone number.  The doctors frequently have the technicians return the calls so the calls are returned as soon as possible. Messages left on voicemail for the technicians before 2:00 PM will be returned the same business day and any messages left after 2:00 PM will be returned the next business day.

VISITATION

We know and understand how difficult it is to leave your pet in the hospital.  If your pet must be hospitalized after surgery you are welcome to visit the day after surgery.   We ask that clients limit the visitation to 30 minutes or less. VCVRC hours for visitation are Monday- Friday 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Visitation may also be arranged after hours, through Valley Central Emergency by calling (610) 435-5588.

DISCHARGES

When your pet is ready to be discharged we will call to schedule a time for you to pick up your pet.  A scheduled pick up time will allow us to prepare medications and discharge instructions so that your wait is minimal.  The technician will go over the discharge instructions when you pick up your pet. Any questions that the technician can not answer will be forwarded to the Doctor. If a recheck appointment is needed, scheduling the appointment may be scheduled at the time of discharge.
